In 2009 I went to South Africa to study abroad for 6 months. Since that time I’ve never been the same again. During those six months I surrendered my life to Christ and was set free from so many chains that I struggled with for most of adolescence to early adulthood. As a result, South Africa has always had a special place in my heart. One day I saw my friend make a post about flooding in a specific area in South Africa and felt the need to do something to help. I wondered if there was a way to help even though I was far away.

After consulting with some wise friends I realized my best option was a Go Fund Me Campaign. You might ask why not just give to a local organization. The truth is I want to be sure that the items purchased are being put in the hands of the people who need them, not in the pockets of the organization providing relief. But if you are more comfortable giving to the organizations please do( listed below). The money raised through this campaign will be used to purchase items needed by those impacted by the flood. In my mind it was important to help the people. I remember when we had a hurricane in NC, we lost power for a few days and I didn’t want to go through the bureaucracy I just wanted power. People who have lost everything have immediate needs that must be met! Let’s help meet those needs as much as we can! The money raised from this campaign will go directly to helping those impacted by floods in KwaZulu-Natal region of South Africa.

Over the past few months a lot of rain has hit the southern region of the continent. Countries like Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and South Africa are dealing with water damage that has led to people losing everything including a place to lay their heads. But don’t worry, there are many ways we can help. Mainly through monetary donations! Here are a list of organizations that are providing relief in the countries listed above. Please donate if you can. Let’s be a part of rebuilding for those whose lives have been washed away.
